A Look Back: Farming in Alberta, 1957

We recently uncovered a gem from Alberta’s agricultural past—a 1957 booklet titled Farming in Alberta. This little piece of history paints a snapshot of what life on the land looked like nearly 70 years ago. From the crops farmers grew to the livestock they raised, it’s a reminder of how much has changed—and how much has stayed the same—in Alberta’s farming story.

Exploring resources like this helps us see the roots of today’s agriculture, the resilience of farm families, and the traditions that continue to shape the way we grow food.
