🌽💛 It’s Summer CORN season in Alberta! 💛🌽

Sweet, crunchy, and straight from the field—nothing says summer like farm-fresh Alberta corn. Whether you enjoy it boiled, grilled, or right off the cob, it’s the perfect time to celebrate one of our favourite seasonal treats.

Did You Know? Corny Facts:

  • 🌽 Every ear of corn has an even number of rows – most ears have 16 rows, but they can range from 12 to 20. And each kernel? It’s actually a seed that could grow into a whole new corn plant.

  • 🌾 One acre of corn removes about 8 tons of carbon dioxide from the air in a growing season—helping clean the air while producing food, fuel, and feed.

  • 🍿 Not all corn is the same! Sweet corn is the kind we eat fresh, while field corn is used for livestock feed, processed foods, and even products like crayons and ethanol. Popcorn? That’s its own special variety with a hard shell and starchy centre that pops when heated.

🎯 Keep the fun going with our Corn Maze Activity Sheet—a farm-themed challenge for curious minds of all ages.
