On a hot summer day, Chase “Superman” Duffy heads out to his grandfather’s Alberta canola field to deliver lunch — but the heat gets the best of him. Dehydrated and overexerted, Chase suddenly blacks out.

When he wakes, he finds himself transported back in time.

In this unexpected journey to the past, Chase meets Mr. Slovonuk of Shellbrook, Saskatchewan — the farmer who first brought rapeseed from Poland to Canada. Through this encounter, Chase discovers the remarkable story behind one of Canada’s most important crops and the innovation that helped shape modern Canadian agriculture.

Blending adventure, history, and agriculture, this engaging story helps students explore Canadian invention, resilience, and the roots of canola in a way that’s both memorable and curriculum-connected.
