Cow Curiosities: Fun Farm Facts for Curious Kids

šŸ¼ Cows have four stomach compartments – Not four actual stomachs, but four parts (rumen, reticulum, omasum, abomasum) that help them digest tough plants like grass.

šŸ‘‚ Cows can hear lower and higher frequencies than humans – They’re great at picking up on sounds, especially when something unusual is happening.

🦶 Cows can walk up stairs—but not down – Their knees don’t bend easily going downhill, so stairs are tricky in reverse!

🌈 Cows can recognize colours – Especially red, yellow, and blue—though they are more attracted to movement than colour alone.

🐮 A cow chews about 40–60 times per minute – That’s over 40,000 jaw movements a day while they chew their cud!

šŸŽ‰ Each cow has a unique moo – Just like a voiceprint, cows use different pitches and lengths to communicate with each other.

🐾 Newborn calves can stand within an hour of birth – And they start walking shortly after. Talk about strong starts!
