YOUNG FARM

WORKERS'

PROGRAM

Working with rural schools and community groups, Ag for Life hosts it's Young Farm Workers' Safety Training in communities across the province. The workshops provide students the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to keep themselves and those around them safe on the farm and at future work environments.

The focus of the Young Farm Workers' Program (YFWP) workshop is to provide participants with hands-on, engaging, educational safety programming with the ultimate goal of eliminating farm site injuries and fatalities. Participants learn about a wide variety of safety topics delivered by local volunteers and safety experts.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • Hazard Assessment and Control

  • Fire Safety

  • Electrical Safety

  • Confined Spaces

  • Personal Protective Equipment

  • Emergency Response Planning

  • Handling Large Animals

  • Trailer Safety

  • Route Planning

  • ATV Planning

In this course you will recognize and assess the hazards and learn about managing the risks of working in an agricultural environment. You will identify community resources that may be available to you to ensure that you develop safety awareness, and learn about ways to ensure your workplace is a safe environment to work in.

Each year Ag for Life hosts several workshops throughout Alberta, if you are interested in hosting an event in your area please contact us.
